Fix it or bin it?
Ask an engineer first.

Send a short video of your broken appliance. A senior appliance engineer tells you what's wrong, roughly what the repair should cost, and whether it's worth doing — before you pay for a call-out or a new machine.

  • Impartial — no repair upsell, just a fair price range
  • Full refund if we can't diagnose it
  • Written verdict within 24 hours

Film it on your phone. We'll tell you what's wrong.

Whatever has stopped working in your kitchen or utility room, a short video is usually all an experienced engineer needs.

Don't pay for a call-out just to find out.

Most repair firms charge a call-out fee before they even say what's wrong — and an engineer who sells repairs isn't the most neutral person to ask whether a repair is worth it.

Typical engineer call-out

£70–£150

Often charged just to diagnose, before any repair. Then you decide whether to go ahead.

Get your verdict

A written report within 24 hours: the likely fault, a cost range, and a clear Fix it, DIY or Bin it verdict.

One of three honest answers

Every report ends with a clear verdict, explained in plain English.

Fix it

The repair is worth it. We tell you the likely part and a fair price range, so you can book any local engineer with confidence.

DIY

A safe, simple fix you can do yourself — like a blocked filter or a reset. We tell you how, and which part to order if needed.

Bin it

The repair would cost too much for the machine's age or condition. Save your money and put it towards a new one.

Some faults are a ten-minute job.

A blocked pump filter is one of the most common reasons a washing machine won't drain. When a fix is safe to do yourself, we tell you exactly what to do, what you'll need, and what to look out for. No call-out, no parts, often no cost at all.

If it isn't safe or simple, we'll say so plainly.

Your written report includes

  • The most likely fault, and what else it could be
  • Parts likely needed and typical part prices
  • A realistic UK repair cost range
  • Fix it, DIY or Bin it — with the reason
  • A summary you can show any repair engineer

Your verdict comes from experienced, qualified appliance engineers who work on site in customers' homes every week. The same people who fix these faults for a living look at your video — no chatbots, no scripts.

  • Every verdict checked by a senior engineer before it's sent to you

Questions

Why would you tell me to bin it? Don't you want the work?

You pay for an honest answer, and that's what we sell. Across most of the UK we don't carry out repairs at all, so we gain nothing from upselling you. In parts of Cheshire we also offer repairs: if you're in that area we'll tell you before you decide, the verdict and price range stay the same, and you're free to use any engineer you like.

What if you can't work it out from the video?

We may ask for another short clip or a simple check. If we still can't give you a confident diagnosis, we refund your £25 in full.

How accurate is a video diagnosis?

For most common faults — drainage, spinning, heating, cooling, error codes, noises — a good video is enough for a confident diagnosis. It is still a remote assessment: an engineer on site may find something different, so cost figures are given as realistic ranges, not fixed quotes.

What should I film?

The fault happening (sounds matter), any error code on the display, the model and serial number sticker (usually inside the door or on the back), and roughly how old the appliance is. We'll send a short checklist after payment.

Will you tell me to take the machine apart?

Only for safe, simple jobs like cleaning a filter or a reset. We never advise opening live electrics, refrigerant systems or anything gas. Always unplug an appliance before touching it.

My appliance is still under warranty.

Use the manufacturer's warranty first — it's usually free. We're best for out-of-warranty appliances where you're paying the bill yourself.

I'm a landlord or letting agent. Can you help?

Yes. Your tenant can send the video directly, and you get a written report to decide on a repair or replacement without travelling.

How fast will I get my verdict?

Usually within 24 hours of receiving your video, often the same evening.

One short video, one honest verdict. If we need a closer look at a part, we'll tell you exactly what to show us. Refunded if we can't diagnose it.
